We often speak about the time you need to execute a succession plan. Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a good, quick, sale anymore - and you often need more time to complete an internal sale of equity.
Whilst not every internal transaction is a staged, succession plan (a release of equity over a few years), it is becoming more unusual to see a 100% sale of equity internally.
How much is enough time? Ideally, we would work with you 5+ years out from retirement - to help you identify and communicate with your successors, agree a transaction and allow for tranches of equity to be released.
