This was a line said at a recent Slipstream Group Pathway to Equity Workshop, and whilst it solicited a good chuckle amongst the 30 plus participants, it also rings true. There is a lot said for an external facilitator to your internal succession discussions – whether it is understanding the current valuation, or the buying and selling of tranches, an independent party often helps.


An independent party can help negotiate a transaction when the owner thinks the value is $4 million but market value is significantly less. Similarly, they can help explain the valuation to both parties, explain mechanisms that could be used to mitigate any forecast risks. Our role can be valuer, educator, or negotiator – and this can be tailored to each scenario.
